Dolphins, slides, and other Hawaiian knick...
A day full of ravenous adventure, dear readers!
What would YOU give to sit through a 90 minute presentation on the Machiavellian benefits of your very own time share? Well, if the price is a deep dish discount at a Hilton on the Big island, sign me up! Especially if you play it like an Olympic event, as my wife and I do.
Having sat through these things 4 times now, it’s starting to...
Hawaii road trip!!!
Having a Cuba Libre with some delicious local hawaiian rum. Had a long day out with the family viewing waterfalls, gorgeous hidden tropical valleys, crashing seaside waves, beautiful flowers, eating coconut milk ice cream, and driving thru clouds (you heard me right, we drove through clouds), before settling down to a smorgasbord dinner courtesy of the local ABC market. About to set the kids up...
Macadamia nut ice cream and other Hawaiian...
First full day in Hawaii began with a bowl of Raisin Bran and a walk among the lava rocks with my niece and nephew. We spotted some mongooses (mongeese? mongoose?) playing among the brush. Then we took an hour drive up north Kohala to Polulu lookout. If you get a chance, google it and take a look at those pictures. Truly spectacular… We started to take a hike down to the black sand beach. ...

Netflix Makes a Movie Geek very, VERY Happy!!! →
Netflix has just reached a $1 billion deal wi Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM to stream it’s entire fill library beginning September 1.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes!!!! As Tron’s Bit would say.
I have long wanted Netflix to put all of it’s titles up for streaming. I’d even pay more money for that service (oh dear, did I just say that out loud???).
Netflix is a company that...

Latest video from Microsoft about Project Natal.
This definitely is going to be a game changer, folks. As much as the Wii was a leap ahead in terms of interactive gaming, the Natal is at least two leaps. Can’t wait.

Conan STRIKES BACK!!!
If you’ve been following the Jay/Conan/NBC debacle at all, you know what an utter FUBAR this is. It’s not about Jay vs. Conan at all, really. It’s about NBC, a rudderless former juggernaut of a network now careening helplessly toward the brink of oblivion. The fact that this could happen in a supposedly top notch organization is hard to fathom.
Network battles with their late...

I have historically NEVER been a Jay Leno fan. But as rumors abound that he’s about to be bounced from his 10pm show by the NBC bigwigs, suddenly he’s funny. Turns out, Jay’s a riot when he’s pissed…

It could only happen in Iowa…
Dick Kleis decided to use 120,000 pounds of manure (yes, you read that right) and 3 hours of his time to spell “Happy Birthday, Luv You” to his lovely wife.
What a tribute…
Says Kleis, “It’s not hard. Any manure will work but the good, soft, gushy, warm stuff works the best. It kind of melts the snow.”
According to the...
Happy 2010 from MediaViewer!!!
I do have some resolutions this new year. One is to drop some poundage. The other, is to be more accountable technologically to my blogs, twitter, facebook, and the best little podcast in the world, THE HAPPY TIME MAGIC HOUR.
Hopefully, we’ll attract more readers here as we go. However, I must do my part first.
LET THE BLOGGING BEGIN!

Collective Sigh! Peter Parker is NOT Bilbo!
Just as quickly as rumors surface, they are just as quickly shot to smithereens.
Two days ago, talk was electric on the internets. The word being that Tobey Maguire had the inside track to star in “The Hobbit”, as the lead furry-footed halfling, Bilbo Baggins.
But then, just one day later, Mr. Webhead himself issued a flat denial.
Here he is on the red carpet for the premiere of...

An Open Letter to the Terminator Owners. From a...
Pretty funny/sarcastic/bitter open letter from Joss Whedon to the owners of the “Terminator” franchise.
wolfmank:
ohryankelley:
Dear Sirs/Ma’ams,
I am Joss Whedon, the mastermind behind Titan A.E., Parenthood (not the movie) (or the new series) (or the one where ‘hood’ was capitalized ‘cause it was a pun), and myriad other legendary tales. I have heard through the ‘grapevine’...

24 Season 8 Trailer
My favorite guilty TV pleasure is 24.
I’ve enjoyed suspending my disbelief for seven seasons as Jack Bauer has pummeled terrorists to bloody pulps and stumps.
My favorite scene from last year would have to be this exchange with FBI agent Janis Gold (Janeane Garafolo)…
Now, we get the promise of even more Jack Bauer deliciousness with the trailer for Season 8…

Modern Warfare 2....Playing the Massacre?
Controversial footage of Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 game, releasing next month, has leaked.
In it, dozens of innocent civilians are killed in a terrorist attack on an airport.
Now, in and of itself, this is nothing new. Rainbow Six and other franchises have long featured the terrorist element as an enemy.
But this time, you are along for the ride. You witness the...
Oh, the Horror! Stephen King Gets Greedy...
Color me a “genre” Stephen King fan. I love all of his non-horror stuff. “Dark Tower” is among my absolute favorite series of books. I have them lining the shelves of my bookcases at home (much to my beloved’s chagrin).
The book. Opening the cover. Turning the pages. Manhandling the dustjacket as it keeps slipping off.
These days, the book is becoming a bit of...

One of my favorite groups of the last 10 years, Vertical Horizon, is getting back together after a 5 year break.

Another Sign of the Apocalypse: Weather Channel to...
Perhaps viewership is dropping like a hail stone, as the Weather Channel has decided that the one thing a network (previously devoted to telling us if it was going to rain tomorrow) was missing was….movies.
Yyyyeah, so beginnning Oct. 30, they’ll start airing “weather-themed” flicks.
Their first offering? Why, “The Perfect Storm”, naturally!
Other films...
Wil Wheaton is Sheldon's KHAAAAAAAAAAN!
Another A+ episode of “Big Bang Theory” last night, with guest star Wil Wheaton matching Warlord (think “Magic: The Gathering”) card playing wits with our lovable eidetic, OCD scientist Sheldon.
Peppered through the episode were Sheldon’s assertions that Wheaton is his “Khan”, having no-showed at a comic book convention Sheldon attended 15 years ago.

Captain Kirk to play Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan!!!
Nooo….not William Shatner. Though it could be fun to watch a geriatric Jack Ryan ambling through a retirement home nailing down a tapioca pudding conspiracy…
No, I’m referring to Chris Pine, star of this summer’s blockbuster Star Trek hit.
Paramount Studios has tapped Pine to star in a re-boot of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels (e.g. Hunt for Red October, Patriot...

To Infinity and Beyond!!! Toy Story 3 unveils its...
I look back upon Toy Story and Toy Story 2 as two films from my defining years. That is to say, movies I saw during my 20’s, which is the time when most people sort of settle into the personalities and outlooks they adopt as adults.
It was a time just after college and before kids (for most of us), when you lived on your own and had responsibilities and jobs, but not so many that you...

Flash Forward takes on a Philosophy, and Eats Dead...
Well, not sure what to think of last night’s episode.
It was definitely the weakest so far, but any good show needs setup to progress.
So let’s see, where to begin?
« SPOILERS AHEAD! »
Michael visits a Nazi war criminal at a German prison, who says he knows why the Blackout lasted exactly 137 seconds. Turns out, it’s Kabbalah, folks! We apparently...

Flash Forward!!! MUST WATCH!
The best new drama of the year is ABC’s Flash Forward, hands down.
When everyone on the planet suddenly blacks out for more than 2 minutes, chaos erupts (imagine everyone on the road driving, those on an airplane, swimming, even walking down stairs).
As it turns out, people didn’t just black out for 2 minutes, 17 seconds. They actually all experienced a glimpse of their lives 6...

Is "The Hobbit" studio about to go on welfare?

Simon Cowell: The Uber-Celebrity?
The National Kids’ Day survey questioned 1,600 British students under 10, asking them “who is the most famous person in the world?”
#1? Simon Cowell
Is this understandable, or just downright disturbing?
Can’t decide….well think on this then.
#3 in the survey was the Queen of England. A fair assessment, as far as I can tell. The Brits still picture Her Majesty...
Wii goes sub $200!!!
CNet is reporting that the Wii’s price will be dropped $50 down to $199 beginning this weekend.
And the console price war continues. The PS3 tried to be all clever and dropped their price to $299. XBOX had dropped its Elite down to $299 (though now with a $50 rebate) and core system to $199, and now this for the Wii.
Looks like the PS3 is once again bringing up the rear….

Has NBC Once Again Pulled off "Must See TV"?
Tonight, NBC rolls out its new slate of comedies. Most of us of age remember the heady deays of the 80’s and early 90’s when shows like Seinfeld, The Cosby Show, Cheers, Family Ties, and others dominated the ratings.
And while the network continually blew on the embers for years with some success and a multitude of failures, it has never quite recaptured that water cooler evening of...

Disney/Marvel Deal: UPDATE
In looking through some articles on the $4 billion purchase of Marvel Comics by Disney, I found that Marvel will honor all of its pre-existing agreements with other distributors, with Disney having no intention of stepping in on those.
What does that mean? Well, Sony can continue its plans for Spiderman 4, Paramount can continue on its 5-year deal with Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, and the rest of...

Disney buying Marvel Comics
Walt Disney Company, never content with just one empire, has ponied up some petty cash to buy a little comic book company named Marvel.
The tab? A mere $4 billion.
Hopefully, they’ve learned from their initial Pixar bungling and allow Marvel to continue to develop their own properties, then just sit back and rake in the dough.
But why this deal? Why now? One could certainly...

The Hobbit Finds its Bilbo?
As reported by TheOneRing.net, Sir Ian McKellen attended an all-night screening of “The Lord of Rings” in London over the weekend.
Ian addressed the crowd, providing a bit of “Hobbit” news. He’ll be heading to New Zealand in March to begin filming the first of the two planned films, due out Christmas 2011. He also told the giddy crowd that the script has been...

Bryan Singer Climbs on Board the Reboot Train
I’ve got a lot of respect for Bryan as a director. I really do. Going way back to “Usual Suspects”, Singer has a unique vision as a storyteller. He, more than many other mainstream filmmakers out there likes to tell his tales through the characters.
The “X-Men” films (1 & 2) were extremely well done in terms of bringing you into that universe. He hit on not...

Every geek is well versed in the total pile of Bantha poodoo visited upon us with the Star Wars Prequels. I won’t rehash the Anakin Skywalker angst-ridden, Trade Federation muddled, JAR JAR BINKS disgraceful muck we suffered through.
But now (or rather, recently) a trailer has surfaced that has cause to give us...

PS3 to Become Price Competitive? K-Mart Says Yes!
Apparently, Bob Sony has finally received the message. The PS3 is wayyyy too expensive.
CNet has just posted a pic apparently taken from an upcoming K-Mart ad, showing a “new low” Playstation price. (Credit: Kmart.com)
Speculation has been rife that Sony would be slashing $100 off the list price, dropping it down to $299, making it competitive with the XBox Elite and only $50 higher...

How do you keep a good alien down?

Media Viewer SOLVES Baseball's Steroid Problem!!!
This is not a joke. You won’t see any sarcastic comments, or as WolfmanK puts it, my one-of-a-kind “snarkiness”.
Here, now, in plain English, a simple plan to ELIMINATE the steroid problem from the sport I so deeply love.
It’s actually simple, in fact it almost feels like I’m pushing the Staples Easy button.
I’ll break it down for you as if I were a MLB...
